This morning was a very busy morning in the hearing clinic!
First I helped the clinician perform the listening check. While using the speakers, I noticed a little crack a couple times and told the clinician...it was not enough to distort the sound, but just something to be aware of.
The first client was a gentleman from Printing Services. He was there for his routine hearing evaluation. Previous audiograms indicated he had a high frequency hearing loss. The current evaluation, was very similar and no steps toward amplification were taken.
The next client was a 5 year old little girl, she was absolutely adorable! She is a client in the speech clinic and her mother wanted to have her hearing re-evaluated. During the otoscopic examination, large amounts of cerumen was present in both canals. Shallow tymps were recorded bilaterally, which was probably the result of the cerumen. The best part of this evaluation was that the clinician had me go into the sound booth with the little girl and play with her. We dropped the bears in the bucket when she heard the sound. She started to get a little tired at the end and told me that the sounds were "too tiny" for her to hear. She was so cute! When my time slot ended, they had just started speech testing, but the little girl seemed to be doing quite well.
Today was a great day in the clinic! :)
