Today a woman came into the clinic for a hearing evaluation/hearing aid evaluation. She had her hearing evaluated at the WVU clinic in 2004, but has not had it done since. Originially amplification was suggested, but none was purchased. During her visit today, she did state she had some tinnitus. Otoscopy was performed bilaterally and revealed normal external auditory canals. Her tympanograms were also normal type A. Her reflexes were also within normal limits. Her SRT was good. Word discrimination was 100 % in the right ear and 92% in the left. Puretone testing had begun and the clinicin was using a warble tone due to the complaints of tinnitus. Testing was not complete at the end of my observation block. I plan on talking with the clinician to see the end results and if amplification was obtained.
